keeping in touch

Hello everyone-
Today's graduation was wonderful. It was so rewarding to see you all having completed the hard labours of Advanced 2 having learned so much! We will miss you, and wish you every satisfaction and true happiness in the future.

Several of you asked to have permanent addresses so you can contact each other in that future. While I thought initially of putting the addresses on these blogs, I think now for privacy sake (these are public) that it would be better if you send your addresses in Montreal with dates you will be here and home by e-mail and I will make up a list and e-mail it to each of you. What do you think?

Lili and I are looking forward to hearing from you!
And thank you for that chocolate! We will think of you with every sinful bite!

two blogs now!

Hello!
We had a good start to the presentations today, and look forward to hearing each of you. I hope you allow Adriano to film you!

Now to the blogging:
!. If you haven't already done so, please write about how you feel about, and what you learned from writing your research paper. Don't wait - do it now- or you will forget! DO THIS FIRST.

2. Write about persuasion/advertising. Either of the following:
a. Pick two of the strategies you read about today and apply them so some TV commercials or magazine or newspaper ads ( or political speeches from the news!) It would be interesting to discuss whether or not these strategies are also used in your home country.
OR
b. Using some of the ideas about "clutter" from the second reading and from the video, comment on the advertising you see in Montreal. Compare it to your home city.

GOOD LUCK ON YOUR PRESENTATIONS, AND A GREAT WEEKEND.

Please note: Amporn, Richard and Nien are excused from doing this tonight as they are presenting tomorrow.

reaction to completing the research paper

Hello all-
What a good celebration today for finishing the papers! You have worked hard and can feel very satisfied now (and also for braving the freezing weather!)

Before you move on to the presentations, take a few minutes and blog about your paper - what you learned, how you feel, etc.
See you tomorrow-
Adrianne

weekend news

Hello all-
This promises to be a beautiful weekend, so take advantage. Go skating on the mountain or the old port, try the"Fete Des Neiges" (snow festival) I believe at Parc Jean Drapeau (check the web page) and of course, keep writing!

Lili and I are very pleased with your progess thus far. You are well on your way, and doing a good job! Continue your good work, and try to get a full draft, or close to it by Monday. We can work on revising and editing then.

I did not bring the e-mail list home, so please send me your e-mail at adriannesklar@yahoo.com if you have already handed in printed material and I will send back comments.

For Monday, remember to comment on the blogs of your classmates on their "literacies"
write in your blog where you are in your research and writing, and how you feel
about it!

For Tuesday, look for an ideal or fun job to apply to. Those web addresses are:
monster.ca jobboom.com canadajobs.com workopolis.com

Have a great weekend!

Welcome to my blog!

Hello all

I have enjoyed reading your entries and look forward to joining the conversation. Keep your ideas flowing.

Your essay questions on gender communication were all interesting. The level of language and of developing your ideas continues to improve. Bravo! What we still need to focus on is attributing ideas and using all available sources of information.

This weekend I would like you to write a few sentences on your blog about the process you went through preparing to write the essay question. Then we can try to see how a modified preparation could make your writing even better.

I am not actually in Montreal now, and I will be unable to get back immediately. Lili will carry on on Monday, and on Tuesday you will have another stimulating lecture, this time from Miriam Horne, a CELI teacher now writing her thesis for her Ph.D. I hope to be back Tuesday, but I can't be sure.

Have a great weekend!
Adrianne
